LA MUSIQUE DE LA BIBLE REVELEE
Harmonia Mundi CD HMA 195989 (formerly HMA 190989)

This CD (also called
Volume 1) is based on the original LP produced at the same time as the French book of the same title (La musique de la Bible révélée, 1st edition, Robert Dumas, 1976). It has the greatest variety of texts, but is the shortest in length. It it also the most mixed in terms of performance quality (save perhaps for Psaumes de David). For some reason, there are a number of errors in the performance of the melody, and some differences between accompaniment in the recording and that in the written score. (In the corresponding score, there are also transcription errors in the biblical melody, most marked as errata.)

The recent re-release of the CD (under a different catalog number) has a slightly different cover than the older release shown here. In the U.S., it is obtainable via Harmonia Mundi USA or through many record stores and some online book and record sellers (including here at Amazon.com). In France, it is obtainable via Harmonia Mundi France. (See the Harmonia Mundi Home Page for availability in other countries.) This recording may also be ordered online from the Spanish-language site CyberDiscos.com (based in Spain).

N.B.: All but one of the recordings originally published by Disques Alienor (France) are now available via online order from the Official Web Site of Esther Lamandier (e-mail) or via postal order. The cost is 22 euros including postage (see the Web site for ordering details). They are also available online from Jewish Music - JMD in the UK (see search results: "Vantoura" and "Esther Lamandier"). This recording is currently available from Alapage.com in France (scroll down the following pages for lists of Suzanne Haïk-Vantoura's and Esther Lamandier's recordings).

Several new CDs and CD-ROMs, plus Latinized Hebrew-English booklets for some of the original recordings, are available from King David's Harp, Inc. (e-mail). You may download and print this order form in order to obtain these recordings and CD-ROMs (see this page).
