background on this page is based on a photo of the "Piney
Woods" of Mississippi and Louisiana, taken in the early 1900's.
The photo itself is found in the archives of the Crosy Arboretum,
Picayune, MS., and was provided on a postcard courtesy of the
Forest History Society.
We believe this photo a fitting introduction to a family which has so many of its roots in this very country.

Marked in yellow are all the Meitzlers listed in the above table, plus Thomas
Frierson, the brother-in-law of Charles
William Meitzler. (The Census enumerator incorrectly listed Cary Meitzler as "Carra",
and as a daughter.) |
