INTRODUCTION |

This subdirectory of Johanan
Rakkav's Home Page is dedicated to essays I have written in support of
the teaching and preaching of the Living Church
of God. They are generally on more specialized issues than the Church
deals with in its publications. In particular, they draw upon my background as a student (largely self-taught)
in biblical Hebrew and Greek and calendar astronomy.
Every so often, "quarrels over the law" (Titus 3:9, Revised Standard Version) -- literally, "over
what is lawful" -- arise even among God's people. While God's servants are admonished to avoid such quarrels
as "unprofitable and futile" (save verse), sometimes questions are raised that must be given a direct
answer. At the same time, one is to "always be prepared to make a defense to any one who calls you to account
for the hope that is in you...with gentleness and reverence" (1 Peter 3:15). In my years as a member of the
Church of God, I've devoted myself to helping my brethren, members and ministers alike, "make a defense",
and I count it both a privilege and a pleasure to do so.
The essays on this site were written in response to specific issues, some brought directly to my attention, some
uncovered by myself. I have done my best to make the complete and accurate within the limits of my knowledge and
resources. If the reader has any comments that might help improve the content of this site, he or she is welcome
